Cathy had 4 siblings, 3 boys and 1 girl, her family is what gave her all her highs and lows.
Gavin
Gavin
Gavin is one of Cathy Freeman’s brothers. He has a job as a psychologist he had this job for these teams: the winter Olympic team in Torino in 2006, in 2000 Sydney Paralympic games, 2000 Olympic archery team in Sydney and the 2003 rugby world cup. He has written a book called Business Olympian that was realest in June 2008 and he is currently working on his second book. He has two young children and loves to play basketball.
Norman
Norman was another one of Cathy’s brothers. Norman died at 33 in a car crash, he was one of Cathy's younger siblings and she was devastated. Gavin was in it as well but survived.
Garth
Gath was sent to jail on Christmas Eve 2010 with his 6th drink driving offence. The reason he became like this is because of his brother Norman's death.
Anne-Marie
Anna-Marie is Cathy’s only sister. She was born with cerebral palsy which affected her life. She died of an asthma attack in 1990 three days after Cathy won gold at the Common Wealth games. After her death Cathy said that every race she did would be for her.
Mum
Cathy’s mum’s real name is Cecelia Freeman. She is currently 74 years old. She was also part of the stolen generation.
Dad
Cathy’s dad’s real name is Norman Freeman. He was a rugby player. He got drunk a lot which affected the kids, he left the family and came back when Cathy was five. He died when she was competing in Europe.
